Wheat Ridge
Voting Map
Project Overview:
The project aimed to create functional walking maps for volunteers to conduct door-to-door outreach in Wheat Ridge District 3 within 1 hour. The goal was to identify houses that had not yet voted and provide volunteers with efficient routes to engage with residents about the upcoming vote. Despite prioritizing functionality over aesthetics, the maps served their purpose effectively.
Geoprocessing and Visualization:
Data Cleanup: Filtered voter data to identify houses that have not yet voted in Wheat Ridge District 3, focusing on areas requiring further engagement.
Geocoding: Converted addresses of non-voting houses into geographic coordinates for spatial analysis and map visualization.
Buffers: Generated buffers around non-voting houses to delineate manageable sections for door-to-door canvassing, ensuring efficient coverage by volunteers.
Road Symbolization: Symbolized roads to enhance map readability and aid in navigation for volunteers conducting outreach activities.
Road Labeling: Applied labels to roads to provide contextual information and assist volunteers in route planning during door-to-door visits.

Conclusion:
The project effectively utilized various skills in time management, data analysis, spatial processing, stakeholder engagement, and documentation. By employing these skills, we successfully created functional voting maps for Wheat Ridge District 3, facilitating door-to-door canvassing efforts to encourage voter participation. Despite the maps' utilitarian design, their functionality served the project's purpose of engaging with households that had not yet voted.
