Colorado Population Estimates
2015 to 2050
Project Overview:
The project aimed to create population projection maps for Colorado counties from 2000 to 2050, using data sourced from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (SDO) and county boundary files from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). Geoprocessing techniques were applied to clean and join the data, facilitating the visualization of population changes over time.
Data Acquisition:
Population projection data for Colorado counties in 5-year intervals from 2000 to 2050 was obtained from the SDO County Data Resource Page. County boundary shapefiles were downloaded from the CDOT website to serve as the base layer for mapping.
Geoprocessing and Visualization:
Data Cleanup: Cleaned population projection data obtained from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs to ensure consistency and compatibility for further analysis.

Joining Data: Combined the cleaned population projection data with the county boundaries layer to associate demographic information with spatial features.
Classification: Classified population change data using manual intervals to effectively visualize demographic trends across different counties.
Labeling Enhancement: Implemented Python code within ArcGIS Pro to format percentage labels for better map readability, providing a clear interpretation of demographic shifts over time.
